Unique Gift Idea - Wine Rack

As a travel journalist, I get a lot of free gifts on trips, and the most popular gift tends to be a bottle of wine particular to whatever area I'm in. Luckily, my parents are big wine drinkers (they like to imagine themselves wine aficionados); unluckily, they often don't have a proper place to store all their specialty wines.

Now, thanks to eWineracks.com's Bottle Bunch Hanging Metal Wine Rack, $44.98 at www.ewineracks.com, my parents can store their wine in style &8212; and without taking up precious counter or floor space. Made of metal with an antique copper finish, the whimsical grape-leaf-and-vine shaped rack suspends from any ceiling to hold six bottles of wine (and when it's full, I daresay it resembles a bunch of grapes).

The rack comes with its own extension rod and hanging hook, so all you need to do when you get it is hang it and break open that Shiraz.

Custom made drizzle cruets

These oil and vinegar cruets from Cruets.com make a great gift for occasions such as anniversaries and birthdays, and help accent the home. Oil and vinegar cruets do more than just add the right touch of flavor to your meals - they add to the decor of the room.

The Drizzle Cruet set from Cruets.com has become the best-seller in a hurry. The gift set includes two well designed vessels that are hand blown by European craftsman. The design of the neck prevents unwanted drips from leaking out of the spout.

Because these custom cruets are made from Simax glass, no corrosion develops even after extended exposure to oil or vinegar. These homey gift ideas are also safe to place in the dishwasher.

Check out Cruets.com for a wider variety, such as grape cruets.

Rapid Wine Chiller

If tailgating is your passion, but you like wine with your sports, problem solved. The Rapid Wine Chiller is both classy and convenient, and it's also the perfect way to impress your date or even your wife with your tailgating panache.

The Chiller cools bottles to the desired serving temperature in minutes without any guess work. A regular plug is great for home use and an extra-long, 12-foot DC cigarette lighter plug is perfect for road trips. Add ice cubes and water, choose your desired beverage temp on the touchpad timer, and the chiller stops when it's done.

Not really a wine type of guy? The chiller is also perfect for carbonated drinks, like beer and soda, and chills them to perfection: don't worry about foaming over or mini-explosions.

The silver bullet like appearance of the chiller makes it a stylish and functional gift for retired motor-home travelers, college football fans or even for your wife: present it to her during a romantic picnic in the park. For more information, visit winecoolers.com.

I am addicted to pretty food. They say we eat with our eyes first, and the way I see it, I must have good taste. Or the food must. Either way, if a dish catches my eye, I’ll give it a nibble.

Sadly, my own cooking results in, most of the time, your standard, fine-enough-for-consumption presentation (one can do only so many things with couscous, after all). So I’m happy to have discovered I can have pretty food in my own home without the fuss, or mess to clean up, thanks to Signature Days’ personal chef packages. For $140 to $800, food-lovers, or just busy moms and on-the-go professionals, in select cities can have a personal chef prepare five day’s worth of gourmet meals for two to four people. Chefs are prepared to cater to dietary needs with specialized (even organic) entrees and side dishes. For more information and options, visit www.signaturedays.com.
